Triple Concerto

for flute, oboe and harp solo with string orchestra (min. 4,3,2,2,1)
composed 1991; duration 28 minutes
commissioned by Hamlet String Orchestra
world premiere Elsinore (Denmark) 1992
Lars Graugaard – flute; Helén Jahren – oboe; Sofia Asunción Claro – harp
Hamlet String Orchestra; Helge Lomholt – conductor

In three movements, the demands put on the string orchestra is very reasonable. In contrast, the solo parts are more demanding, being well suited for professional players – or amateurs of a fairly high level. In the second movement the flute and oboe double on piccolo and english horn, while the part of the string orchestra mostly is in semi-aleatoric notation.
