Sofia Asunción Claro – harp

This composition was originally conceived as an interactive piece for harp and MAX software controlling a KORG Wavestation. A version was later made where a tape part substituted the interactive computer.

The main part of the compositional work has been done on the level of ‘gesture’ as metaphor for musical expression. The purpose was to reach into a direct musical expression of the conceived musical images, and in the process it would also feed the actual sound of the tape. This is done through a continuously developing, controlled randomness serving the double purpose of putting the harp in relief and creating the overall form.

An excerpt was used in English director Neil Jordan’s film Ondine (2010)
