The composition has a particular flavour due to its use of simple melodic profiles, yet subjected to a large quantity of ‘derived’ pitches. This result in melodic contours easy to follow, but enriched with a great complexity of detail. The flute performer is directed to perform on the kalimba is placed on a snare drum with the snares on in the opening section, while the percussion player performs on suspended cymbals by touching them with his fingers fitted with small metal ‘tips’.
