James Crabb – accordion
Paragon Ensemble

Composed for the Scottish/Danish accordion virtuoso James Crabb, the work displays a great deal of variety of playing techniques and expressions. The opening is marked by great rhythmic density in a delicate yet insisting forward push, with much use of timbral shading of the accompanying ensemble. Towards the middle an open space of slower melodic pace is reached, before the music gradually moves towards an open section containing improvisational instructions on previous material for all the performers.
