Arioso

for harp and organ
composed 1989; duration 12 minutes
commissioned by Sofia Asunción Claro and Eva Feldbæk
world premiere Vestkirken, Copenhagen (Denmark) 1990
Sofia Asunción Claro – harp; Eva Feldbæk – organ

The harp is the main character of the piece, and the organ has mostly a discreet role to play. The intimate atmosphere which the organ is able to provide through the use of delicate voicing acts as the stage on which the harp can enact its mono-drama. Later the organ comes into full prominence, though, as it briefly moves into full register for a short solo. The piece is brought to a close with the reentering of the harp.
