Lashed Capacities

for two guitars
composed 1998; duration 6 minutes
commissioned by Jesper Sivebæk

The piece begins with an unstable, interrupted canon on the second degree, where shadings are created through reverberation, interchanges of accent, and contrast of colour. This material is developed into an actual parallelism, which continues ceaselessly vibrating, forming an ever richer texture. The result is a reconstruction of a long and complicated process of amalgamation, whereby a singular intonation evolves into a finely meshed network.
