Fleeting Tarry

for flute, oboe and bassoon
composed 1996; duration 10 minutes
commissioned by Auris Ensemble
world premiere Copenhagen (Denmark) 1996

The piece is based on the quartet/quintet -bright, hard, yellow; sad. The music is transposed a fifth up, and the instrumentation is exploiting some strident and rather dissonant textures. A cadenza for the bassoon stands prominent, but in general the interplay among the instruments is is tightly woven.
