Lora

performance for girl soprano, male reciter, bass trombone/euphonium and 4 percussion
composed 1993; duration 35 minutes
texts by Heinrich Heine and Brentano
world premiere Dansens Hus, Copenhagen (Denmark) 1993

LORA is based on the legend of Lorelei. The two performers/actors are a very young girl in early puberty, and an old man around 80. On stage the four percussionists are each on a ‘mountain of percussion’, like rocks in the Rhine. The trombone player is a joker Ð a master of ceremony Ð invisible to the little girl and the old man. The texts are adaptions of Heine and Brentano.
