Jeu de la Nuit

for alto flute/piccolo, flugelhorn/piccolo trumpet, trombone and horn
composed 1986, revised 1992; duration 6 minutes
world premiere at Langholtskyrkja, Reykjavik (Iceland) 1987
Svend Melbye – flute; Pall Sohlstein – horn;
Lars Uhrenfeldt – trumpet; Peter Benneth – trombone

After the first performance only one section of the piece was preserved. This sectioj was then developed further into a full composition. The technique used is basically one of interpolation, but the interpolation takes place in uneven steps. These steps provide a new progression, which then hides the originally selected steps.
