Saw the Innen Stadt Aussen exhibition of Olafur Eliasson at the Gropius Museum in Berlin. Interesting how an optical art that mainly deals with perception and cognition creates such a strong response in the audience.
The day before I played at Cafe Zapata at Oranienburgstraße, and the low density of content you find in easily digestible music is a somewhat similar phenomenon. It focuses on a purely sensorial experience makes the audience create their own inner experience which is very open to any interpretation – or none. The aesthetic impression absent and replaced by a very convincing smoothness that then becomes the most important part for making the ‘package’ work.Blog entries
