Zapata, Eliasson and other matters

Saw the Innen Stadt Aussen exhibition of Olafur Eliasson at the Gropius Museum in Berlin. Interesting how an optical art that mainly deals with perception and cognition creates such a strong response in the audience.

The day before I played at Cafe Zapata at Oranienburgstraße, and the low density of content you find in easily digestible music is a somewhat similar phenomenon. It focuses on a purely sensorial experience makes the audience create their own inner experience which is very open to any interpretation – or none. The aesthetic impression absent and replaced by a very convincing smoothness that then becomes the most important part for making the ‘package’ work.

I have over the years released a considerable amount of music as composer, flute and laptop performer and producer on digital and physical media – vinyl, cassette, CD, DVD. You will find all this material including listening links on the recordings page.
