Bettina Perut and Ivan Osnovikoff is a very talented movie-making couple. I have seen several of their works, and they used Shattered Glass for their video on the September 11, 1973 military coup in Chile, with the spectacular title Clever Monkey Pinochet versus La Moneda’s Pigs. I had for some time felt that their almost abstract visual language – reaching a peek in their feature movie News – would lend itself well to music accompaniment without spoken dialogue. We have been meeting a couple of times now, and they have been working on a video track for two tracks I made with Australian double-bass player Mike Majkowski for a March 21 release on PuebloNuevo.
The results are very promising – much more than I had imagined. We have decided for March 21 as release date, but we are already considering other, larger projects, which in fact was my original idea. What we have been doing is basically a proof-of-concept, but having worked out so well, they will become two strong, independent works that will be a great promoter for this release.
